My interview with author and organic farmer Joan Donaldson

by Zinta Aistars
Aired on WMUK 102.1 FM radio
NPR affiliate in Southwest Michigan
December 10, 2013

From the cover of Wedded to the Land, Joan Donaldson and her husband on their farm

In Wedded to the Land: Stories from a simple life on an organic fruit farm, Joan Donaldson's stories paint a picture of the romance that goes along with leading the simple life, but also how much blood, sweat, and tears go into it. Some of the stories also delve into Donaldson's personal life, like her relationship with her two sons whom she adopted from a Colombian orphanage. Listen to the full interview for more details.

Once or twice a month, I do author interviews for the WMUK 102.1 FM radio Arts and More program, Kalamazoo, Michigan's NPR affiliate. The program airs Tuesdays and Friday at 7:50 a.m., 9:50 a.m., 4:29 p.m., and 5:44 p.m. You can listen to it live on the website today, tune into your radio if you live in the area, or click on the link provided to listen to the full interview (20:42).
